Welcome to my Blog!
Dear reader,
This blog has been developed as a result of my personal need to share thoughts, my experiences and hobbies which I have had more time to indulge in due to the current pandemic. My name is Julia and I am currently studying for my A Levels in 2021. I do biology, chemistry, physics and fine art, with my ultimate goal to become a hospital doctor/ biomedical scientist/ forensic scientist (I'm still not 100% certain), but biology is definitely one of my favourite fields to go into.
Speaking of my hobbies, I am definitely a fan of photorealism! I have been studying art as an A Level since 2017 and am loving it. The ability to see your work improve over time is definitely one of the highlights of why I choose to do it. I also am a fan of reading fiction as well as non-fiction books, especially in the genre of crime and science fiction. Possibly the most influential book I have read was 'This is Going to Hurt' by Adam Kay, which explores the darker side of working as a doctor with gruesome detail and some unbelievable cases (with the patients' names' swapped for those in Harry Potter of course). It definitely opened my eyes to what people do not tell you about when studying medicine; Kay's ability to present a day to day life of a doctor is both tremendously comedic yet extremely direct and definitely not sugar coated!
Quarantine has not been treating many of us well; people have lost their jobs, fallen apart with their S.O, are experiencing mental health issues... You name it! On a positive note, however, we have seen people help each other when in need, neighbours offering support to one another, healthcare staff going hours on end helping those affected and this has all brought us that little bit closer to one another (no closer than 2 metres though!). In order to break free from my day to day routine, I have decided to pursue a journey in blogging; it will be a way for me to connect to the outside world while still staying safe in the comfort of my tiny yet cosy bedroom.
If You are willing to join me through this (hopefully long lasting) blogging adventure, please stay up to date as I will be posting once a week on a Saturday as of today. In the meantime, comment below how You manage to stay sane during these very limiting times; I am curious of Your responses as I myself am running out of ideas!
Stay well and safe!
Julia.
